For those who have never served in the military, this is a brief example of what the first day as a Navy recruit would be like.
It is important as a journalist to know these recruits will move on to an “A” School for more training. Many will go on to “C” School for more specialized training their field. Then they will head to their duty station on a ship or naval station. They will be better trained than most Americans are at their civilian jobs.
The Navy’s does it training at Navy Station Great Lakes. It is called “boot camp”; it is not referred to as “basic training” (an Army and Air Force term).
